How to Pass U.S. Army Jumpmaster School
Jumpmaster school STUDY GUIDE link coming soon
#1 Know Nomenclature and Pre-Jump by heart before you show up day 1. This will help you exponentially when you class up in two main ways. 1st it will allow you to whole heartedly focus your attention on studying for the written test, which is your first test in the course. 2nd knowing Nomenclature buy heart will help when calling out deficiencies during JMPI week. 3rd you’ll ace both those tests with minimum stress/anxiety when you actually test in the course.
#2 Understand and go into the school with the mindset that you will keep going to the course until you get it. Even if you have go back to back to back. (This is easier if your somewhere like Fort Bragg, NC. because the school is right there where your stationed). In my class there were people that were better at JMPI than I was and for whatever reason didn’t pass. They all however, returned to the next class and got it on their second time. No harm no foul as they say, do your 100% best but don’t get down on yourself if you have to do it twice. If you ask around, most JM’s get it on their second or third time attending the course.
#3 Rehearse Rehearse Rehearse - Whether it’s for your Safety Exam, PWAC (Practical Work In The Aircraft), or for JMPI, Rehearse by yourself (a lot) and with a classmate when you can in the Mock Doors. Go into every exam fully prepared. Have a classmate watch you run through whatever it is your getting ready to test on and welcome any critiques. Even ask your instructor Stick leader to watch and offer advice if you can.
#4 Maintain “ReEntry” score above 80% on all your exams and you’ll get 5 chances at testing JMPI instead of 3. Even if you end up not needing the extra two attempts, it’s worth the peace of mind.
#5 Bring your ruck and equipment to PWAC free of deficiencies! Just like ReEntry is a good thing to maintain to get more JMPI attempts. If you don’t have any issues with your equipment you get two attempts at “Practical Work In The Aircraft” PWAC. Fix any deficiency the Jumpmaster instructors point out and have Jumpmasters’ in your unit check over your equipment. Show up to test PWAC with your equipment G2G.
#6 Congratulations, You Passed. After a celebratory night of responsible drinking, get yourself a copy of the CAASOP and look through it. Because when you perform your first Safety Duty you’ll realize that there are tons of different jump-able packs you need to know how to JMPI. There are a few different helmets you need to know about. How do you push a door bundle out? You’ll soon realize that not every paratrooper is jumping an M4, with an ACH, and a Molle 4K Ruck.
